Though the island goes for FULL Board most of the activities are included, which are added surprises for the guests. Meals, in the intimate, thoughtfully lit "Ara Iru restaurant", and prepared by the French chef, Jacque - are a real pleasure here. An option for breakfast is service in the room or on your balcony. Lunch is an expansive buffet at the table. Afternoon tea, as well, is prepared daily.

Jacque gives importance to what is fresh. "Fresh fruit and vegetables, they are important", he says and makes sure that every meal offered by Makunudu presents his guests a wide choice. Usually, the veggies and the fruits are  presented in the form of delightful salads, accompanied by carefully prepared sauces which complement their taste.

Everyday at lunch, you have a large buffet table laden with an eclectic range of foods to choose from. Every Tuesday evening a Barbecue Buffet is held to give you an even wider choice, including tender meat or fresh fish grilled to the level of your choosing.    

Every Friday, the buffet is Maldivian, offering you the chance to sample and taste the Maldivian cuisine which can be quite an exciting experience with its exotic blending of spices and curries.    

Dinner at the "Ara Iru Restaurant" is an experience to remember. The romantic atmosphere of the restaurant is enhanced by candlelight and complemented by fresh flowers. Never the one to leave his guests without a choice, Jacque ensures the set-menus for dinner during the rest of the week also offers a choice in every course of the meal.

There are many more staff than possible guests, but they are as discreet as the service is good. Flexibility and attention to detail are a hallmark, from the always prompt airport transfer to the wicker cover over the air conditioning units.

On the whole the beach is very good. Though it is broken up by groynes, these are placed and assessed one by one, and so are not intrusive. The reef is also good, its odd shape giving rise to a variety of underwater environments. The water sports and dive centres are efficient, friendly and well stocked.
