Ayurvedic Retreat :
Situated within the spa
complex, the Ayurvedic
Retreat, a first for Four
Seasons, is designed to
stimulate its guests into
thinking about,
experimenting with and
understanding the
fundamental philosophical
approach to ayurveda. The
Resort has worked closely
with experts from nearby
Kerala, India, to ensure
this ancient science of life
has been successfully
transported to the Maldives.
These experienced Keralan
and Sri Lankan therapists
and ayurvedic physicians are
highly trained professionals
in ayurveda, including diet,
body type, patient approach
and the practice of yoga and
meditation. The Ayurvedic
Retreat has three individual
treatment pavilions designed
to take guests on a journey
through the physical,
nutritional and emotional
benefits of the ayurvedic
system. In each treatment
pavilion, furnished with
wooden ayurvedic tables,
traditional herbal bathtubs,
steam benches and an area
for mud treatments, guests
are treated to physical and
spiritual rejuvenation.
Besides introducing the
myriad possibilities
ayurveda offers, guests will
also learn to integrate some
of the processes into their
daily lives. At the herbal
centre, fragrant gardens are
planted with medicinal
herbs, trees and flowers.
Here, guests can learn about
the various oils and herbal
concoctions used in the
ayurvedic process. The
Resort's resident ayurvedic
physician is available to
advise on healthier
lifestyle options and to
design dosha-specific
meal plans in cooperation
with the Resort's ayurvedic
chef, for guests who wish to
experience this ancient
science throughout the
duration of their stay.
Another specialty is the
panchakarma procedure,
a series of five therapies
that comprises ayurveda's
primary purification and
detoxification treatment.
Due to the complexity of
these treatments and the
associated detoxification
diet that is essential to
its success, the procedure
is offered as a 14-day
package only. |
