FILITHEYO - Guest Comments

This is a recent establishment in Maldives. And the beauty of Filitheyo is that the island is the only resort in the North Nilandhe Atoll and promises to offer many new diving spots with a high standard of accommodation.

Due to the infancy of the resort, we are as yet unable to get a clear picture of our guests view in regard to filitheyo. However, we will go on uploading more pictures of the resort, with our guest's opinions. Following are some important facts for your consideration.

Filitheyo lies between two channels on the eastern side of the North Nilande Atoll approx. 60 km south of the Ari Atoll. It is 900m long and 500m wide at the outer reef end. The great advantage of it's secluded, exclusive position lies in the unexplored reef, promising superb diving for our guests.

 This triangular shaped island is being developed with careful consideration to the environment. Filitheyo is surrounded by a beautiful white sandy beach and is covered in dense tropical vegetation e.g. palm trees, rubber trees, mangroves and Scaebola trees which provide shade for our guests.

Accommodation

 Small paths wind their way through the shady interior of the island, leading to the 125 rooms housed in single or double bungalows, which blend harmoniously with their surroundings. The island is large enough to allow each of these spacious bungalows to be built individually, thus providing adequate privacy for the occupants.

Each bungalow is built to 5 star standards and lies discretely hidden under shady palm trees, and yet each has a spectacular sea view and access to the beach. Due to this sensitive planning the north of the island seems pleasantly uninhabited when viewed from the beach.

The air-conditioned rooms are elegantly furnished for your comfort and each has its own terrace. They are all equipped with a mini-bar, telephone, television, stereo-player and desalinate warm and cold water. A particularly charming feature is the open bathroom with its own garden, almost as large as the bedroom!

16 luxurious water-bungalows have been built on stilts around the south of the lagoon. These offer the height of luxury including a sun-deck and stairs leading straight into the lagoon, a whirlpool in the bathroom and the interior is tastefully fitted out in solid teak, just like the other bungalows.

Wining and Dining

 Undoubtedly a further highlight on this island. Our chef Brian Logan and his team create magnificent buffets which even by international comparison achieve highest possible standards!

 The restaurant on Filitheyo serves you a magnificent choice of international and local dishes. You will find a delicious selection of fresh meat and poultry dishes, including grilled meats, seafood and pasta, plus an excellent choice of fresh mixed salads and tropical fruits in all variations. Those of you with a sweeter tooth will be more than delighted with the ample choice of international deserts available.
Beach buffets and barbecues, including many Maldivian specialties, provide further variety to the menu. The coffee shop offers you a good choice of food and drink á la carte, so you can choose half or full board when booking your holiday.
If you fancy finishing the day with a cool drink you might like to visit the beach bar where you will find a good choice of cocktails, beers, fruit juices, wines and non-alcoholic drinks.

Or you might seek the solitude of the beach and the cool sea breeze to enjoy your drink while taking in the breathtaking beauty of sunset in this part of the world; or later on while gazing at the crystal clear starlit skies.

Leisure and sport facilities

 Around Filitheyo you will find the kind of underwater experience which snorkellers and divers dream of. You can dive on both sides of the spectacular local reef where you will find a vast variety of big fish.

 Of course the island has a lot more recreational activities to offer. Our guests can enjoy a visit to our ultra modern, air-conditioned fitness-centre or choose from one of the other games and sports facilities such as table-tennis, badminton, billiards, volleyball, chess, darts and the local game of carrom among other things.

 There is a weekly disco evening at the beach bar and we organize folklore evenings which include 'Bodu Beru' or even a magician or a fire-swallower for your entertainment.

 Naturally there is a surfing and sailing school on the island, with both English and German speaking instructors available, equipped with 'Top Cat' Catamarans and Hy-Fly surf-boards and gear.

 However we consider Filitheyo primarily a peaceful divers' oasis, ideal for a relaxing holiday where you can wind down in the peace and infinite beauty of this part of the world, both above and below the surface.

Excursions

 The following excursions are available: night-fishing, 'Island-hopping' to the surrounding native islands (some of them uninhabited), snorkeling trips and a lot more.
