ELLAIDHOO - Guest Comments

Ellaidhoo is a small coral island with a total land area of 55,625 square metres. The island is 300 metres long and 280 metres wide, and is covered by thick tropical vegetation. The total built up area of the island is only 7,060 square metres (12.7% of the total land area). The magnificent house reef just 20 metres away from the beach surrounding the island, is the hallmark of the resort.
Ellaidhoo is located on the eastern fringes of North Ari Atoll, about 42 km from Male’ International Airport and 40 km from Male’ (the capital island of Maldives). Transfer time between the airport and the resort is 20 minutes by seaplane and 1 hour 30 minutes by speedboat.

In the short history of tourism in the Maldives; Ellaidhoo quickly became, and remains for the moment, The dive island in the country.

There are three categories of guestrooms in the island with a total bed capacity of 156 beds. All the rooms are built around the edge of the island facing the sea.

Standard Rooms (second line) back of the individual beach bungalow built in year 2000, with Air-Conditioning, IDD Telephone, Mini Bar, Hair Dryer, Cable TV, and Terrace and attached open bath room with fresh hot and cold running water.

DELUXE Rooms are the two storey rooms (four rooms in a block) built in 1998, with air-conditioning, mini-bar, IDD telephone, terrace, cable TV and attached open bath room with fresh hot and cold running water, bath Tub & Hair Dryer.

FOOD & BEVERAGES 
The Food and Beverage outlets on Ellaidhoo offer a variety of local and international dishes.
MAIN RESTAURANT  
The main restaurant is open at fixed times and serves in buffet breakfasts, lunch and buffet dinner.
COFFEE SHOP  
The coffee shop with Internet is open from 9am in the morning until midnight and serves different hot and cold beverages, snacks, and various local and international dishes. Internet service is also available here at set times during the day.
MAIN BAR  
The main bar is open throughout the day from seven in the morning until the last guest leaves at night. A variety of exotic cocktails and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available.
 

SPORTS CENTRE
It has variety of sports both INDOOR and OUTDOOR Games, and here some of the facilities and activities are:

WATER SPORTS
Ellaidhoo Water Sports Centre is located in Maagaa island (our sister island just 10 minutes boat ride away) and offers wind surfing, catamaran sailing, water skiing, jet skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding, banana riding and fun tube riding.

LAND SPORTS
If you feel like it, you can join our staff for a game of football, volleyball, badminton or table tennis.

Ellaidhoo has one of the best house reefs of any resort island in the Maldives, just 20 metres away from the beach. Lobsters, turtles, white tip and grey reef sharks, jack fish, barracudas and tuna fish, just to name a few, can be observed among the beautiful multi-coloured soft corals of the house reef. If you are lucky, you may also see manta and eagle rays passing by. To the south of the island there is a vertical drop-off up to 25 metres with caves at three different levels starting from 6 metres. There is also a small wreck providing shelter for all kinds of small and large fish. Tourists from resort islands as far as North Male’ Atoll visits on diving excursions to see the spectacular house reef of Ellaidhoo.

Sub Aqua - (famous for operating diving schools around the world) runs our dive school with qualified diving instructors and offers courses for beginners and experienced divers in German and English language. The dive base also offers NITROX, DRAEGER Atlantis 1 SCR and Buddy Inspiration CCR courses and awards PADI, NAUI, ANDI and RAB certificates. 
Half day and full day diving excursions are organized to visit some of the best dive sites in the Maldives such as Fish Head, Maya Thila, Halaveli Wreck (sting ray city II) and Fesdhoo Wreck. Day and night non-limited diving on the house reef is also available for experienced divers.
