Banyan Tree was established in Maldives in 1995, in the island of Vabbinfaru (local name of the island), close to A'port and the Capital city, providing night transfers. As its a world renown brand name, the service and facilities are extremely good. And the cultivation of the bungalows are unique, as you could see from the above picture.

The heart of Banyan Tree/Maldives is its spa. Here the techniques are mostly Asian, where Thai professional masseuses could get you a soothing and a relaxing massage to any part of your body, while you listen the tinkling music in the air to relax you mind. Our guests comments on saying that the most difficult part is to chose among the list of 12 different massages and 28 other body, facial, leg, and beauty treatments, where the prices range from US$ 40/- to US$ 150/-.

There are five irresistible choices to dine-in at Banyan, Vabbinfaru/Maldives. The meal plan here is on FULL Board, which means 3 meals per person per day are included in your accommodation package.

Banyan Tree / Maldives is not an active resort, the entertainment are light and quiet. NO Disco, NO Karaoke, NO Cabaret. If you're looking for live, active, night time get drunk and sing this isn't the right place for you.

For a start of your recreational activities, you can dive or snorkel in the transparent brilliance of the ocean, explore its riches, and go deep-sea or night fishing. After all, this is a paradise renowned for superlative fishing, sailing, diving and snorkeling. If you prefer, sit in the shallow waters and watch the myriad of exotic schools of fish dart in and out of
the light, or go kite flying with the clear blue sky as the backdrop.

Then, there are ball and racket games you can play with your partner. For more vigorous workouts, head for the resort's health club. And for the less actively inclined, a ramble around Malé exploring its sights and shopping, or a promenade along the beach are just as rousing. If the sun gets to you, simply retire to the resort's TV room for board games or some quiet reading.

The dive-center is handsome and has great equipments. Further the dive-center offers services such as personalizing the videos for you. Since the island is inside the Atoll the best dive sites are not nearby, and this could be a reason why some of our guests do not consider Maldivian, Banyan Tree as a five star. One half of the house reef is not so good, but the other half is excellent, with overhangs, sharks, lobster, rays and many other fish. The next door islands, also has a fine house reef for snorkeling and diving.

Though the North-East corner has some erosions (where sandbagging, outer walls and groynes have been used) the beaches are very good, and the sand is particularly white and fine grained. And the sand is spread over the floor of all the public areas and the paths that meander through the island, giving the place a smart and a casual feel.

The individual villas are very attractive and luxurious. The choice is between Garden Villas, BeachFront Villa, Jaccuzzi Ocean View Villa and Jaccuzi BeachFront Villa and Presidential Suite.

The Garden Villa's is the lowest category at Banyan, where the villa's are inside the bush and trees, surrounded by a garden.

With direct access to the beach, the Beachfront Villa allows you to act out your Robinson Crusoe fantasies. Unlike Crusoe's quarters, however, your isolated thatched roof villa offers real luxury and extraordinary comfort. You'll feast your eyes on the turquoise Maldivian waters from your open terrace and heed the call of the crystal clear lagoons inviting you to a close encounter with the stunning marine life a stone's throw away.

The only criticism that we get from our guests is that Vabbinfaru being a small island there are too many villa's. Still landscaping is done to offer the utmost privacy.
