Dhoni Island

They call it 'Dhoni Island' because you stay in a luxuriously-appointed Stateroom on a dhoni, a live-aboard boat anchored in the translucent lagoon off this unique, private holiday island.

You can also stay at no extra charge in an elegantly-furnished island lodge secluded in the lush, tropical vegetation by a heavenly white-sand beach.

The rooms or accommodation are actually on boats - locally the Maldivian's say 'Dhoni' and there are just five of them, known as; 'Pink Rose' - 'Wild Orchid' - 'Golden Lotus' - 'Ocean Lily' - and Lady Camellia. One couple one boat concept - has a butler, a captain and two crew onboard who will look after you and your loved one.

Each dhoni is 65 feet long, and powered by inboard engines or by wind blowing in its pearl white canvas sails. The captain steers by traditional tiller and rudder, guided by satellite navigation.

In the bow of the dhoni is a sun deck with outsize cushions for lazing. Aft is a deck for alfresco dinning, and for rod and line fishing as the dhoni cruises.

In the cabin there is fully equipped galley and dinning saloon. Sliding wooden doors open to reveal your Stateroom - the 20" LCD screen is accompanied with Bose DVD Surround Sound Theatre, a hotel-style bedroom with a dreamily comfortable king size bed, has Frette linen and a goose down duvet, wardrobes, timber deck and ceiling, and bathroom has Philippe Starck fittings ensuite.
