With a major upgrade and with a new concept the island was re-opened in 2005, the environment and the natural habitat was untouched, but with an added layer of great accommodation and extra facilities. The new concept is much related to; the look and feel is balance between the formal and the casual.

Bandos is an informal island, being barefoot is upto you. During the refurbishment major facelifts have been given to the front desk, an internet hotspot and large plasma tv, as well as a conference hall, a new swimming pool, etc, etc. Careful considerations however, was given at all times to ensure that the old-world refinement for which the island has a reputation remained uncompromised, such that; it still has its tranquil verandahs, tall palms and pockets of hideaways.

Families are just not catered here - they are taken care of. The centre of the island has the major buildings - including, a large sports centre with tennis, squash, badminton, gymnasium, table tennis, table games, massage, sauna and steam rooms.

For those families traveling with young children the 'Child Care Centre' and 'Kids Club' would prove to be a blessing. The facilities are free of charge and the staffs of Kids Club provides baby-sitting services free of charge, for children between 8 months to 12 years, between 0900hrs to 1700hrs - but a small charge is levied after 1700hrs.

At Bandos the beach surrounding the island is a bit thin - however the lagoon and the house reef is excellent for swimming, snorkeling and water sports. Bandos has 5 categories of accommodation; they are, Standard Rooms, DeLuxe Rooms, Garden Villas, Jaccuzzi Beach Villas and Water Villas.

 103 Standard Rooms

Though these rooms are said as standard - the amenities are more of a Superior or a DeLuxe. Out of the 103 - 84 are beach front and the 19 are non-beach front. Rooms that are on the SunSet side (the early numbers) could get the best sections of the beach, among these Standard Rooms. The size of these rooms are 37.85sqm, and could accommodate extra 1 bed and 1 crib.

All the rooms are new and with a fresh-look, including air-condition, mini bar, IDD telephone, Satellite T.V, Electronic Safe and tea/coffee making facility. The furnishings are pleasant gold and green with a pinkish wall, thatched ceiling with wooden furniture and a stone effect floor tiles and a room front balcony. The bathroom is average with a good hot and cold water shower, hair dryer.

 48 DeLuxe Rooms

The deluxe rooms at Bandos are similar to standard rooms - however, an added advantage is their partitioned living and bedroom facilities – a feature highly preferred by vacationing families. Since the beach (south west side of the island) in front of these rooms disappears in some seasons during the high-tide; the rooms offer direct and immediate access to the lagoon for a good swim. Further some of these rooms are a bit inside the vegetation line.

The yellowish and pink-cream color of the overall place, the four-poster king size bed, and the overall sense of light, style and high privacy lift the spirits of the place. Same amenities as standard rooms are provided here. 

 24 Garden Villas

These Garden Villas are set inside the island in a professionally designed Garden Environment. Out of the 24, twelve are along the side of the new swimming pool. They are made for couples. They are made of thatched roofs, cozy, elegantly furnished and come with their private patio. Some guests say, these wooden chalets are darker, cozier and gives a look of the East in their decor.

Though these villas are not as big as DeLuxe Rooms - they could easily accommodate 1 extra bed and a crib

 48 Jacuzzi Beach Villas

One may say that these are the best land-rooms at Bandos. Fashioned as a duplex, the living and bedroom facilities boast all the requisite amenities necessary for your comfort and satisfaction. The balcony provides a pleasant view of the beach front, while the gentle rumble of the surf is constantly soothing. In the seclusion of your Beach Villa, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, is the open-air Jacuzzi with its thatched roof shade designed for your relaxation and enjoyment.

 2 Water Villas

The crown jewels of Bandos accommodation catalogue, only two Water Villas at Bandos were designed to inspire delight in the most discerning of customers. In tandem with the bountiful delights of nature, Bandos Water Villas virtually offer everything to make your holiday experience truly special.

The living quarter comes with state-of-the-art plasma television, minibar, IDD telephone and tea and coffee facilities, while the defining feature of the bedroom (also with plasma TV) is the ornate four-poster bed whose elegance is certainly worthy of royalty. The ultra-luxurious and roomy Jacuzzi, set amongst lush tropical indoor plants and imported river pebbles, affords one an uninterrupted view of the ocean and the unending horizon.

At Bandos Water Villas, one can simply while away many a moment on such simple pleasures as enjoying the sunset, a romantic soak with a loved one or, as they say in these isles, learning the art of doing nothing.

Geared towards this goal are the selection of restaurants and bars, including a 24 hour coffee shop that will offer you a great many variety of culinary options from a la carte to Indian, from local cuisine to continental delicacies and so much more.  Gallery Restaurant

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Gallery is the main restaurant at Bandos and usually has elaborate buffet setups during mealtimes. Although open to all guests, the Gallery specializes in catering to those who have pre-booked their meals. Guests who have pre-booked their meal arrangements are also welcome to patronise the other restaurants and are eligible for discounts at both The Harbour and Sea Breeze Café (Coffee Shop).

 Sea Breeze Cafe

Aptly named, the recently commissioned Sea Breeze Café is situated at the edge of the water where customers can lounge on the enormous outdoor over-water deck and enjoy the breathtaking view of the lagoon while languishing in the gentle breeze. Open round the clock, the restaurant offers a wide variety of dining options from a la carte offerings such as spaghetti or even authentic Indian curries to more alternative fast-food fixes such as pizza and hamburgers.

 Sundowners Bar

Situated near our world class diving facility, the Sundowners Bar is so named because it is the best place to watch the setting of the sun. Frequented often by divers wishing to have a quick bite and drink after a dive, the bar is open daily between 0730hrs to 1930hrs.

 Sand Bar

The classic island-beach bar, the Sand Bar’s modern facilities blend well with the tropical atmosphere. The sand floor and island-ambience of the bar is ideal for customers to enjoy one of our many tropical cocktails or any other beverage that suits your fancy. The Sand Bar is designed with fun in mind and we assure you that our guests would have a wonderful time either with our top-notch karaoke facilities, live band or discotheque. The Sand Bar is open from 7.30 in the morning till late at night.

 The Harbour Restaurant

Artful and elegant, the Harbour restaurant at Bandos is designed with the art of fine-dining in mind. With an option of dining either indoors, in a comfortable air-conditioned atmosphere or outdoors where you can savour the view and gentle breeze, The Harbour specialises, among many other culinary delights, in Maldivian game fish, innumerable seafood delicacies, and the finest in Italian pastas.

 Water Sports Centre

In a country that is more water than land, the possibilities for fun-filled activities in the water are almost inexhaustible. Whether it is turquoise of the lagoon, or the azure blue of the rich coral reefs, or even the darker blue of the ocean, the waters surrounding Bandos will certainly yield some recreational value for our guests.

The water sports centre at Bandos is staffed with professional who are highly skilled in their craft and commands fluency in English, Japanese and German. Some of our most preferred activities include snorkelling, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, water skiing, parasailing, banana boat riding, wakeboard, knee board, fun tubes and canoeing. What’s important to note here is that this is not an exhaustive list and the possibilities are most certainly unlimited. The Water Sports facility here at Bandos also offer top notch catamaran and windsurfing facilities and boasts quality equipment such as Hifly, North-Sails and Topcats

 Paradise Club

For those guests who seek a more professional path to keeping fit or even relaxing, the sports complex at Bandos, Paradise Club is the answer to keeping fit both physically and mentally. Our gymnasium, equipped with state of the art equipment and staffed by qualified friendly instructors, is open to all our guests free of charge. Come on in and enjoy a free aerobics session with our instructors, or indulge in a game of badminton, beach volleyball or tennis in our flood-lit courts

 Dive School

It would not be an exaggeration to claim that Bandos has the best dive centre in the entire country. Dive Bandos is one of the longest established centres in the country and our professional staff will ensure that you experience the lush underwater gardens, colourful fishes and magnificent seascapes in total safety. The recently constructed Dive Centre is a spacious facility complete with air-conditioned audio visual classrooms, library, hot water showers, and spacious storage rooms. Located nearby is the Sundowners bar for your relaxation after an invigorating dive. It goes without saying that the equipment we employ is the best and features internationally reputed brands such as Mares, Scubapro, Aqua Lung, Dive Rite and Suunto, to name but a few. It should also comfort our customers that we have an in-house service shop to ensure that all our equipment is up to standard.

Dive Bandos has a fleet of up to 4 modern, spacious fibre glass dhonis, all equipped with life vests, First Aid equipment, DAN Oxygen kits and radio to enable communication with the dive centre and the island. The experienced and well-trained boat crew is always ready to help you in any way they can. All our staff are regularly trained in emergency first aid techniques. In all emergencies, our Medical Clinic with decompression chamber is at your disposal. While diving with us, All the divers to be insured free of charge for against DCS requiring chamber treatment up to € 6000.00.

 Island Hopping

Hop on board a local mechanized dhoni and sail away across the north male’ atoll to discover the unique identity of a resort island of Maldives scattered across Indian Ocean. Snorkel or swim and take a snap while you top up that tan in our tropical Paradise. Explore a local island and see Maldivians at work and live in their island life. Visit a local souvenir shop, barter and buy some to remember on the trip before we land on our own picnic island for lunch. The full day tour include the picnic lunch on the beach of our very own uninhabited island of KUDA Bandos (Little Bandos) and half day tour starts after breakfast and come back to resort for lunch.

 Big Game Fishing

Popular statistics have it that the average Maldivian consumes an average of 75 kilograms of tuna annually. Our love for fishing should then come as no surprise, and Bandos is proud to share the Maldivian flair for fishing, particularly the art of baitless fishing, with our guests. One needn’t be a professional as our team includes professional fishermen who will be able to assist you through out the course of entire trip. Geared towards this end is our state of the art vessel, Prowler equipped with fish finder, global positioning systems, radar and so forth.

The type of fish caught is heavily dependant upon the monsoon. The country experiences two main seasons, the South West Monsoon and the North East Monsoon. The South West Monsoon, which usually starts in May and continues until August, is the rainy season. However, given that these coral isles have an abundance of marine fauna, there hardly goes a time when a trip fails to yield a good catch
