   Accommodation

The 46 Beach Bungalows are ideally placed around the circumference of the island, with views and immediate access to the water but with some shade directly in front. Eight bungalows are individual, the remainder are in pairs. An additional row of Five Garden Bungalows are tucked in behind, for overbooking periods.

As you could see from the above picture - the rooms look a bit solid, but very smoothly cleaned clean - and all the rooms appearance is just the same. The bathrooms are designed as the Maldivian traditional 'gifili' style, with half-open for sky including double basins and bidet.

The size of the bedroom is good enough, with side bed-lights, wooden cloth hangers and a table with a Maldivian traditional crafted chair. Infront of your room, you'll get two wicker-chairs with a bamboo glass table on a timber-decked verandah - to keep your drinks and get the sea breeze.

This is an island where the management treats the guests as KING's and QUEEN's and he/she surely will get real value for money.

   Dinning

The headwaiter said the word "NO" is not on their vocabulary, and they don't know how to say "NO". A highlight of Athurugau Dinning is that for departures, birthdays, anniversaries - they serve the dinner on the beach with candle-lit, also for anyone who request they offer this same service.

Head waiter commented that their was time, when a couple had all their 28 nights outside restaurant.

After the dinner a move-on around the substantial and attractive shopping arcade is a good place to pick-up some clothing. Alongside the Italian-run boutique is a tailor's, with a selection of material, and a jeweler's, as well as the usual souvenir and casual-wear shop, a dive shop, a 'drug store' and an infirmary.

   Activities & Recreation

The island pops-up in the evening, where the staff members will organize some sort of entertainment in almost every evening. Either a short cabaret, floodlit volleyball musical favorite before and after dinner. These activities are mostly enjoyed by the Italians who make-up about 28% of the guests, but is no means avoided by the remaining British, Germans, Austrians and French.

Laser boat, canoe, windsurfs offered free to guests who must be experienced & licensed for these activities. Also available catamaran rides with instructors. Snorkeling equipment are offered free against a deposit towards loss of damage. Free guided snorkeling on house reef daily

   Spa

Serena Spa has developed a unique spa concept based on Indian traditions, blended with the best from all of Asia. The objective of this fusion is relaxation and pampering; the main ingredients of a perfect vacation experience.

It offers a wide range of Ayurvedic massages, body works as wraps or scrubs and facials for men & women, by using natural materials as honey, cucumber, sesame, coconut, yoghurt, coffee, papaya and orange.

The duration of the different treatments is from 30 to 90 minutes. Afterwards, the guests get herbal tea or juice.

Apart from the treatments you can get there the Serena products: Oils, soaps, shampoos, facial creams, cleansers, masks, towels, bathrobes, ceramics, etc.

   Snorkeling and Diving

Snorkeling on Athuruga reefs is something that you must not miss-out. As the house reef is easily accessible and a lot to see - but at one point it expands away from the island, creating a sizeable lagoon for water sports.

Snorkeling trips to near by reefs are organized by the "InAction" water sports centre - who manages all the excursions with a personalized touch.

I Dive Centre manages the Athuruga Dive-School - their system is so guest-oriented, that once you signed-up for a dive, your equipment is taken to the boat for you - after the dive you just keep the dive gears and walk away, while the equipment is taken care by the dive-staffs.
