The National Emblem

The National emblem of the Republic of Maldives consists of  a coconut palm, crescent  and star, two crisscrossed national flags and the traditional title of the state "Al-Dawlat ul-Mahaldeebiyya". The coconut palm, which represents the livelihood of the nation, plays an essential part in the everyday life of the Malidivians. The crescent and the star, supported by two national flags, signify the Islamic faith of the state and its authority. The traditional title of the state, was first used by "Al-Sultan Al-Ghazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu Al-Azam", the country's most famous hero. The title "Al-Dawlat-ul-Mahaldeebiyya" means "the State of the Maldives".
